Hi Gordon, and welcome to the list. I am in Grosse Pointe. What do you
monitor? I don't know if you pay attention to the bands in the summer,
and this would apply to people in Ohio and other parts of Michigan that
they are wide opened and even 800 MHz DX is great! E-mail me off list and
we can talk more.

I have many intrests in radio besides the ham bands. I have been scanning for years before i decided to join the ham ranks. My radios are as listed. For scanning i use a BC296d for around the house with a Max 800, or the Diamound discone on the roof. And for the truck a BC796d with a Antenex Cclosed coil colinear. I monitor mostly 800Mhz for local police and fire. we are on the new 800 system here in greater Detroit area. On the ham side i run a Kenwood TS 430 and Diawa anntenna tuner connected to a 1/4 wave dipole for the low bands being only a tech i can only talk on a small portion of the 10 meter band and some CW on 40meters. I also like lisening to Am talk the marine freqs in the summer lots of activity on the them being so close to Lake Erie and Lake St clair. I also run a Yaesu Ft-7800R for 2 meters and 440 with Larsen
