[TrunkCom] Question about Tulsa PD

Mike,
Tulsa county uses a Motorola II trunked system with 30 frequencies. The
control channel rotates, so it's best to program them all in. I believe
there are about 4 freqs that are not actively used by TFD/TPD, but they are
used as cross-patch channels with external agencies that also use the Tulsa
county trunked system (Catoosa, Sand Springs, and Sapulpa also use it, as
well as many other Tulsa city and county agencies, from public works and
trash trucks to the jail, parks dept., etc.)
Whether or not you need to program the talkgroups depends on whether you
need to run closed mode to filter out all the other agencies. PD talks
constantly, so I find that if I don't turn them off, I never hear the fire
dept. I switch back and forth between the two, depending on what's going
on. And during the week, PD may (or may not) slow down, but then you get so
much chit-chat from all the other agencies that you still never scan. So
I'd recommend programming the talk groups and running closed mode.
I don't know about programming on the -94. I have a program that can
convert files and upload to the -92, -93 and -95 (I have one of each). But
I'm also in Tulsa, so I can probably get with you sometime and help you out,
if you need it. Just email me direct.

Subject: [TrunkCom] Question about Tulsa PD
I am trying to find out what type of system Tulsa police and fire uses. My
name is Mike. I'm fifteen, and am also blind. Also, when programming the
pro 94 for trunking, do you program the talk group ID's or the frequencies
like normal? Any information about these two topics would be appreciated.
I have tried to ask radio shack but have had no luck. Thanks,
Mike
