What are some of the common methods or
devices that some of you more experienced smiths are using?
I use a Vise-Grip locking clamp that I have cut off one of the clamping arms
and welded on a piece to fit in the hardy hole. In my case, about 6 inches
of 1-1/4" square tubing. I cut a slot below the anvil so I can quickly slide
in a wedge to lock it into the hardy hole. This device allows a quick
adjustment for most any thickness stock. You need to make sure your stock is nice
and flat before you start chiseling lines.
