I couldn't agree more I was using my forge un coated for quite a while
before I read about how bad that is and how much difference the coating
makes heat wise. At first I thought it was used just to reinforce the
blanket structurally. then I read about how bad the particles are for
you unless you seal it with the refractory.so there is a dual
purpose.Chuck, most of the insulation I saw was rated at 2300 F I will
have to keep the stuff you found in mind next time I need some. I
have seen 4, 6, and 8 Lbs. density . 8 is the way to go.
