As an archaeologist I can tell you that true flint is only found in one small deposit in North America. Everything else is chert, etc. I would aquire some good European flint from the muzzleloading crowd for your flint and strikers. Chert will work, after a fashion, but not as good as flint. Perhaps one of the English smiths could send you some genuine flint from that country. It is everywhere in England.
