Thank you Lloyd. That did work for my local office, AKQ (Wakefield, VA). I’m gonna chat with someone down there and see if they can get me a view only account. I do have a legitimate reason (I help run a website that I hope to upgrade with some new features).

It is possible to use NWSchat "privately" but that feature still requires one to have an account issued by your local office.

One workaround is the IEM_BOT system.  For example, https://twitter.com/iembot_oun puts SOME but not ALL the NWS chat output from the Norman office to Twitter.  To use this for other NWS offices, one would substitute OUN with the office designation.  Those are found at https://nwschat.weather.gov/contacts.php and http://www.crh.noaa.gov/arx/Stormready/WFOlist.php
