Pete,
I'm surprised that it's not already programmed. Well, it means mine might be in the mailbox when I get home. I will bring the CMOS Si570s.

Since Cindy will be there tonight I'm sure this topic will come up - not quite ham related. Which chip and what interfaces do I use to detect when the door bell rings and when the phone rings so I can flash lights above the TV set? Her mother is very hard of hearing, plays the TV loud and cannot hear the phone or the doorbell. I think I have one of those old stand alone Boca modems which if it works might provide the phone interface.

I will also bring along a book I just picked up at lunch called "Physical Computing: Sensing and Controlling the Physical World with Computers". Sound familiar? It's kind of where I got the theme for McHUG. And remember, this book is written by guys who teach in art schools. So physical computing can be for everyone, not just techies.
