[McHUG] Lite+XTALL software

Here is a topic for discussion at Stables.

Tony Park's Lite+XTALL boards that we ordered come with an un-programmed PIC 12F683. Does anyone have a programmer?

In the XTALL Daughterboard files section of the Yahoo group, there is software written by KM5H for Tony's board. This software reads the SI570 to get the start-up frequency and stores it in the PIC EEPROM and can be recalled by selecting 000 on the DIP switch. (Only three of the four switches are used in version 1 of the program.) Version 1 only has 7 other frequencies selectable, but it looks like there is room in memory for more. With a four-pole DIP switch, up to 15 frequencies plus the startup frequency should be available if memory space allows.

KM5H says he uses a serial programmer from Sparkfun which costs $13.95 (PGM-00008). Anybody have an opinion?

I might look into interfacing the Lite+XTALL board with the PC parallel port and bypass the PIC. The PC is needed anyway to process the I/Q audio. Might as well let PowerSDR or WINRAD control the LO, too.
