Well we shall see what the shipping cost comes in at. The jack itself is
$3.33 each. I ordered two just to have a spare in case, why not if I'm
going to pay the shipping on one might as well get two.

They are in stock and no chance of of them going out of stock yet from what
I was told.

Hi Scott,

Unfortunately shipping costs are high no matter who you buy things from.
Unless you have a well stocked local parts distributor which even here in
the NYC area we have but two and they don’t have much or Radio Shack, then
the manufacturer is the only game in town.

Yaesu while they charge an arm and both legs for repairs are reasonable on
parts and will mail something small like you need for $6 or $7 most of the
time.

They do keep lots of parts in stock especially for newer radios like yours.

I'm continually underestimating costs whenever I ship something so it really
pays to check different companies and the "fine print".

No I haven't yet, was trying to avoid it. The might have it since the jack
is still used on the 897, but I usually end up paying them 4-5 times the
parts value for shipping.

Hi Scott,

Have you called Yaesu parts in California? The contact information is on
their web site. They will probably have it and very low cost.

Anyone know if the jack soldered to the small board for the front panel
headphones jack can be sourced separately? Or anyone have one from a parts
radio? I have an FT-847 here that someone botched up badly repairing the
power switch, they broke the end off the headphone jack, I assume they
didn’t know they had to disassemble the front panel to remove the clip
holding it in and instead forced it.

Spent a couple hours sorting out the botched wiring and got the radio
running again, just need to fix that broken jack now.
