Look at mods.dk for a number of FT-990 mods. I didn't look to see if any 
involve your description, but you can download the entire set in one 
file once you sign up. Just one download per 4 days so get the 
collection first.

Factory mods might be in the FT-990 technical supplement also usually 
available there, but likely other places on line without hitting that 
free download limit, including ko4bb.com and bama.edibris.com
