I have Collins CW and SSB filters in one of my FT-857. The CW filter
makes copying very weak VHF weak signals better, while the DSP doesn't.
In heavy HF QRM IF filters nearly always work better than audio filters
because of strong unwanted signals pumping the AVC. I don't detect as
much difference in the SSB filter except it takes resetting the carrier
frequency in the menu compared to the ceramic filter.

It can take a 20 amp continuous supply to put out 22 amps a 100 watt
output rig needs.

Usually there is a basic mic included but I don't know the 897, the mic
that does all the remote control costs extra.

Depends on the store and the odds for a reduced price depend on buying
multiple items. Sometimes a store has a better price at a hamfest than
in the store, and some offer a better price on line or in their printed
catalog but make up for it in shipping charges.
