Yeah, use 600V wire which will be about 1200V when placed in parallel & 
twisted.
You could also slip some Teflon sleeving over the 300V wire to increase its 
voltage rating.
Does the radio have plate voltage above 600V anyway?

Because of the high RF voltage on that capacitor I would suggest NOT making
it from standard 'hookup' wire...  that is part of the reason why it is a
mica cap in the first place...
