How right you are Jim bout coax making great caps...  and the many types of
coax available give a LOT of great options... even 'old' coax can work
wonderfully!  I have used RG-58, RG-59, RG-8 and RG-11 with success.. as you
mention, just trimming the length makes for fast and simple adjustment of
the value... friend of mine uses RG-6 a lot for the same purpose
