Jerry thank for the reply but yes I do Claim personally that the FT1000 is
the best radio I have ever heard and owned, no offense, just my opinion so
on that note we will agree to just disagree. I found the Pro series to be
average at best and the sound tiny and too artificial sounding for my taste
and in AB comparisons it did not out receive the FT1000 unless you kicked in
the preamps and even then it did not out receive the 1000. It was just about
the same. Just my experience and I did not claim it was the best at
everything. I do think it is superior on the digital modes but I am just a
CW/SSB operator and that is where in just my opinion the Pro is a toy. Again
too artificial sounding and when you factor in that you have to have an
outboard box to interface an amplifier with the expensive cost of the Pro
series I have seen too many people have them and either get rid of them like
I did or relegate them to a second radio or digital use only radio. Keep in
mind I have owned the Pro, I did not just listen to one for a night or two.
By the way I do own Icom gear so I don't want to give the impression I am an
Icom hater, hi hi. I also found the 6 meter section of the Pro to be
embarrassing on receive and on a radio that cost almost 3KW. Sad sad sad.
Thanks for your opinion though Jerry, I mean no offense just not interested
in hearing about the Icom Pro as I have already been there and done that and
was not impressed when I was there, Hi Hi..LOL. More interested in hearing
about what you first sent which by the way is a very interesting thought. I
have not heard of that mod before. Thanks again, 73, Steve, NX1G
