As the "Commercial" Chairman of one of the
largest US Hamfests and also an avid VHF+
contester let me give some insight as to picking dates for a Convention.
Once a large "Ham Fest" gets on the annual
calender, vendors get used to the date. Many are
committed to attend "Major" events a year in
advance and it is not in their interest to change
dates midstream. If a "Major Ham Fest" wishes
to stay in business, it keeps the same weekend
every year without even consulting the Contest Calender.
