There is activity on Monday night starting around 7:30 on 222.1. Since Joe
K6IBY passed, the formal net is gone but activity continues. There is also
activity at the same time up north in the Bay area and Sacramento if your
station is capable enough.
222 has dx propagation characteristics that can be better than 2m. Joe
would always say 222 is as good and frequently better than 2m over long
paths. I have seen this many times myself. However, you won't experience
this with a 3 el yagi and 10W. 100W and 12 dB of antenna gain is about the
minimum to shoot for.

PM Bernardino/Riverside, CA area
Hello,
I'm considering buying an Elecraft transverter kit for the 222 MHz band,
to give me complete coverage of 50 Mhz->432 MHz.
Before taking this leap, though, I'd like to know if activity on this
band in this area warrants the expense.
I'd heard a rumor that the band was active mostly around contests.
All opinions are appreciated.
