If you know the ARRL sections (e.g. Los Angeles or San Diego or?) in which
you are interested and you are an ARRL member you can access very detailed
information from the ARRL website including a complete listing of every
station in that ARRL Section that submitted a contest log sorted by band,
score, QSO count and callsign for every ARRL contest. How can you access
this information? Access the ARRL web site, click on "Operating Activities",
then "Contests", then "Results". Look for the "Scores Database" for a 2008
or earlier contest and access the "Scores Database" for a selected VHF
contest. You may find the last few years results for the ARRL January VHF
Sweepstakes, the ARRL June VHF QSO party and the ARRL September VHF contests
of particular interest. Among other things you will be able to identify
operators in your areas of interest who are active on these bands during the
contests and perhaps they are also active on 220 when not contesting. If you
aren't an ARRL member find someone who is and they can pull down the
information for you for each contest and for each year. When I access and
sort the Scores Database I set the sorting to look at data only for the ARRL
section of interest to me and to sort the accessed data by Class, Score and
Callsign. Be sure to click on the "List per-band Counts" box. The resulting
printout of callsigns and QSOs and multipliers per band has proved to be a
very useful report for me. GL and 73, Ted, K6XN

Hi,
I'm sort of like you. When building my tower and antenna system I added a
220 yagi, because I didn't want to go up and add it a few years later. I got
the module for 222 but no amp or preamp. To date the only contacts made on
220 were during contest weekends when some one asked what other bands do you
have.
To be fair I'm not that active. I can usually find some activity on 144
local when I do get on. If you are into data modes, a lot of guys on WSJT
have 220.
I'll eventually find a big TE systems amp for 220 and make some noise but
now its just my barefoot FT-736
Come to think of it, I've made more contacts on 10 Ghz than I have 222
Mhz.........

Hello,
I'm considering buying an Elecraft transverter kit for the 222 MHz band,
to give me complete coverage of 50 Mhz->432 MHz.
Before taking this leap, though, I'd like to know if activity on this
band in this area warrants the expense.
I'd heard a rumor that the band was active mostly around contests.
All opinions are appreciated.
