Thanks John and Richard for your investigation and suggestions.
Naturally today I'm not experiencing it as bad. Yesterday I could
listen to the stations and make out exactly who they were. Today I can
hear some of the carriers weakly.

Switching in the attenuator on the Kenwood R-820 10-40dB in ten dB steps
did reduce the interference level but not eliminate it. That's why I
don't feel I have an overloading condition. I'm able to see the AM band
signals by connecting a spectrum analyzer to either of my 80 meter
antennas. WLIP at 1050 is my largest as expected as it is only two
miles away. The next strongest is 1130 (WISN Milwaukee) and then WRJN
on 1400 (Racine). No big surprises there.

When I get the signals back (Yes it would be nice if they didn't return)
I will start playing with and bypassing grounds, things in line between
the rigs and antenna's such as the rig switch, power meter and the
antenna switch. I'll then breadboard a simple series resonant circuit
to try on one of the receivers and tune it around the BC band. If the
later works I will build a version that can take the high power and run
that off a T-coax connector between the two switches. A simple one-pole
series resonate circuit should work well if resonance isn't to high in
the AM BC band (like 1MHz). However, if the actual mixing is going on
before it hits the station the filter won't help. So I guess it's a
step-by-step approach,

At least from John's information nothing has changed with the actual
stations in the area. So that helps to bring it to the next step. Now
I just need the stations to return to proceed to the other steps.

Again the help and suggestions are much appreciated es 73
