Hello Everyone. I attended the WV SERC Conference this week in Morgantown,
WV and got a wonderful surprise of one of the classes. The class was called
"Storm-Ready" hosted by the NWS of Charleston, Pittsburgh and
Starling/Blacksburg. Well with the amateurs in Gallia, Meigs and Mason
Counties I was getting my questions all ready. 

 

I got to talk to folks from all the offices and ask how there local amateurs
help them. Boy oh boy are we ahead of alot of places, ha ha..... Where to
start. First we were invited to visit the NWS office in Charleston
(Scheduled of course) and then all the people attending the conference were
giving a CD for the computer that has so much info I couldn't read it in one
day. 

 

But there were 4 things I was asked to pass on:

 

1. Be Prepared...........check the ready.gov site, lots of information
there. 


 

2. mobile.weather.gov .......... this will bring a modified site up on the
cell phones or tablets that don't have a WIFI or High Speed access point.

 

3. There is a attachment to this email. Its the new radar site and info
about using that page. Even if your not a ham operator, still read the
attachment. I will be using this new radar view at the 911 center in Mason
County.

 

4. CONTINUE TO SERVE AS SPOTTERS AND CONTINUE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

 

 

Please take the time to read the attachment. Also don't forget about the NWS
Charleston Radar Site will be down and getting its upgrades next week.
