I also have an NC101X, and that one came off easily...so I've already 
dissassembled and reassembled a dial successfully.  I think that once I get it 
off, I'll be OK.  Today I got the rest of the electrical parts to finish 
restoring the audio circuitry to the original state, after somebody took out the 
6J5 1st audio stage and rewired the limiter circuit.  He installed a VR tube in 
the 6J5 socket!  Pretty drastic surgery just to add a VR tube.

How did you know?  I noticed that this dial turned much more stiffly than the 
one on the NC101X, and I was thinking there might be an issue with the grease.
