Hmm, very good reasons!  It's funny to think that just a few years ago our 
approach to dangerous things was so...different.  Just look at the exposed racks 
with plug-in coils at high potential, big AC knife switches, etc. of the '30's 
and '40's.   Today the HRO would have a microprocessor that would detect the 
approach of a hand near the coil and cut the power.  Or they'd make it work at 
12 volts.
