I spotted, and was tempted by, a 40W-equivalent LED bulb at my last visit to
the hardware store. Didn't have time to look closer.
Thanks for your mini-review. My guess is it has a somewhat focused or
directed beam and it is "40W" equivalent only in that beam, not in overall
light output. Is that what you observed?
I think there's no particular reason why the LEDs would not make RFI as
well, since they all need some sort of current limited supply and they
probably don't use a linear one. Kind of like the auto taillights that
"come alive" when you move your eyes, which I am told generate a lot of RF
hash on the lower frequencies.
The GFL with the RFI sticker was a Sylvania dimmable flood. The other GE or
Sylvania non-dimmable CFLs I've got did not have the sticker, and they have
not been noisy in my experience.
