Jeff:
At this point we really don't know about the accessibility of the scanners
themselves nor the app. As far as the scanners talking, etc, we know that
that will not be the case. I did see where Uniden did say that the scanners
would have a key pad on them & not a touch screen. How much will actually be
done from this key pad remains to be seen. Keep in mind that the only
scanner which will work with the app is the BC536 which is the desktop
model. The hand held model is known as the BC436, just fyi. As far as
programming with software, etc using a screen reader. We don't know that
yet. But, I know that most past software for programming using windows has
not been accessible with screen readers. I did have someone tell me that he
could program his BC-396 XT using a Mac though. I have a friend who's
already ordered his. So, I'll be interested to see it once he gets it. He's
getting the 436 though. So, I'll not get to see it in action with the app.
Yes, my understanding is that you'll be able to run it thru your network &
listen & control it using the app. As far as streaming it to the internet
for others listening pleasure. I can't speak on this... I'm sure that if it
can be done, someone will figure out how to do it rather quickly. Uniden did
say that the 436 was to be slightly larger than the current 396. But, not by
much. So, if this is the case. Using buttons with it could be a bit of a
challenge for those of us who have large hands or for those who's motor
functions aren't the best in the world. There are already 2 different yahoo
groups which you can find & join. By searchin them out on yahoogroups.
Currently, I'm using a GRE PSR-500 which I can totally program using PSR
Edit-500. In fact... I'm working on completely updating all my files &
reorganizing my scanner as I type this... So, about all I can say at this
moment is stay tuned. I guess we'll all figure this out together.
