[TrunkCom] Rebanding has begun on Motorola trunked systems

Hi Jeff,

No, there have not been any firmware updates for rebanding to date for
the PRO-96/2096 and only the DSP can be firmware flashed. If a CPU
firmware was required, a trip to the service center would need to be
made for a logic and display board replacement. That is, if Radio Shack
would support such an upgrade. This is the reason that the custom
frequency tables were added to the original firmware.

If your talking about MPSCS rebanding, some of the sites do show up in
the FCC database under YE with new frequencies, however nothing has
happened yet. Keep in mind true P25 systems are implicit should be able
to be tracked without a firmware upgrade, because the site frequencies
are populated via the control channel, so the newer trunking scanners
can populate the frequency table from the control channel data.

In rebanding, only the Motorola analog and mixed mode systems (3600 baud
systems) are a problem for trunking scanners. EDACS and LTR systems only
need to be reprogrammed for the correct Logical Channel Number and will
continue to work in all trunking scanners. P25 9600 baud systems are as
I described above.
