I cannot really answer your question, Jeff. But your original post
referenced a possible effect on local LE entities. The answer to that
question is "most likely no". This is a federal initiative. Dave is correct
in his analysis of the architecture of such an endeavor. Although government
agencies are purchasing standard P25 systems and pro-voice and whatever, I'm
certain by 2021 the technology available will raise the bar on anything that
exists today. Relax a bit. This is government, remember. Nothing is carved
in stone.
