Hi Chris,
Good Afternoon, I hope that the
following helps you out.
Rebanding is for MOTO becasue MOTO follows a national
channels plan. In othere words, for example, Channel
200 might equal the frequency of 868.7125 all across
the country. So if a Controller tells a radio to go
to channel 200, the radio will go to 868.7125 anywhere
in the country assuming that the frequency is a part
of the local trunked system.
Now when it comes to EDACS or LTR well each ssyetms'
frequencies are programmed by a local programmer. So
EDACS Channel 1 may be 868.7125, here in the Cleveland
area but it might be Channel 10 in Columbus, the same
goes for LTR. So for LTR and EDACS it will be just a
matter of reprogramming the Channels in your radio
scanner. So the way I heard it is that when it comes
to EDACS and LTR, your older scanners will work.
Rebanding will ONLY affect MOTO systems becasue the
Channels are predefined. This means that even the 800
MHz I-Call frequencies will have to be rebanded too.
This is becasue they are in the part right now that is
Public Safet / Public Service but will no longer be
ater rebanding. Yes I know that they are NOT trunked
but they will have to be moved. Also rememebr,
Rebanding will be done in Waves. There will be about
4 Waves. Also do NOT forget, within those Waves are
areas called Regions. Some states are Regions all by
themselves while other states are broken up into
Mulitple Regions.

I think that the State in the southeasten part of the
US are divided into banedplan based on iDEN or
Non - iDEN usage. The Fourth Wave seems to be the so
called Border states. Border states becasue they
border our friends to the North - Canada and our
friends to the South - Mexico. It is interesting to
know that Ohio is in Wave 4. I mean if you look on
the map, it does NOT boder any country. So one
figures until one realizes that the boder of Ohio /
USA goes to the middle of lake Eire just like with
Ontario / Canada. Ah tecnicalities. Got to love 'em.
Here is a link that includes a map of the Waves and
the Regions. It will haelp better explain what I just
said:
