That is a very typical response. Tax dollars or not, it is a secure 
area, and not just anybody can get in to look around without the proper 
authorization.

Having worked in government for 20 years, I can tell you that you will 
have to make a formal, written request if you want to see the inside of 
one of their sites. Even then you would probably have to have a really 
good reason; just being a taxpayer and wanting to see what the inside 
looked like probably won't do it.
