Here's a followup to my 6/23/05 post about a data channel - like buzz on
138.3375 Mhz. in New York's Mid-Hudson Valley.
The apparent data channel has now been heard rotating among 6 frequencies:
138.1125, 138.3375, 138.6875, 139.3375, 139.4875 and 140.6625 MHz.
Brief digital buzzes have been heard on these 6 frequencies when they are not
used by the steady data channel. Brief digital buzzes (but, so far, no data
channel) have also been heard on:
138.1875, 139.0375, 139.6375 MHz.
There have been no analog transmissions - so I can only guess that this is
the new M-A/Com digital trunked system at West Point.
"The U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York awarded M/A-COM a $1.2
million contract for a VHF P25IP Trunked Land Mobile Radio system. This system
will include a NetworkFirst Switching Center, an Interoperability Gateway and IP
consoles, as well as turnkey services including system engineering, project
management, installation, maintenance and training. The system is designed to
provide radio frequency communications for over 1500 base support personnel."
