Well there are few problems with that:
* "Cellular Type" architecture is not allowed in the 700 mhz Guard Band.
* Nextel would have to change 8 million handsets.
* Broadcasters are still the incumbents on 700 mhz band with no final
move date set.
I'm sure there is some influence peddling going on behind the scenes. Yes
this is Nextel's
mess, however when you have Bill Kinard (ex-FCC Commish) sitting on your
board you can
make it anybodys problem.
Public Safety and business users will need to pay. $500M is not going to
cover the P/S move. Business users are on their
own. Yes, 700mhz equipment is unproven. Who knows what will interfere with
them.
