Well, up until now they didn't use anywhere close to the same freqs. I
think that Detroit gave Windsor one of their UHF radios, and vise versa,
but that's it. Windsor went from a VHF frequency for police to 800 MHz
some years ago, and of course Detroit has had the type I 800 MHz system
that will soon be overhalled to type II Astro for everyone, even the water
board I might add. I am just wondering about that situation with the
Detroit schools. Someone told me that he thinks that the trunked system
that security is on is an LTR system, and I've seen a small one, and don't
remember any of the radios having the go a head tone at all. Does the LTR
go a head tone sound like the Motorola go a head tone? I wopnder how the
policies with Detroit will change now, because when they move to the TRS
the police officerw will be able to for the first time in years be able to
swttch talk groups over to say EMS or fire and ask for an ETA, rather then
go through dispatch.
I don't know if they were able to do this yearw ago when they were
on VHF, but then I don't know if fire was on VHF like the police were in
the 70s and 80s.
