Well, for some people, it is worth it. This is the first of I would
presume many digital scanners to come. Remember when the first
trunktrackers came on the market? You only could do Motorola, and
finally when something came for EDACS it was a computer program, and your
radio had to be connected to the computer for that, and then an EDACS
capable scanner came, and on and on. For many people who can't enjoy
anything but noise, this is worthwhile, and maybe some day down the road
there may be a scanner with the digital card built right into it and
obviously included as a whole package.Maybe what might happen with this is
that you might be able to monitor just one kind of talk group either
digital or analogue. I'm not trying to be negative here, but realistic
about what may be included, and what may not be. included and what could
be added to future radios
As for flashing radios, there is no sense in paying for something
that you don't have to have right now for instance, the radios on my local
trunked system don't use any encryption. It might come later on for
detectives, but right now, and for years encryption has not been used on
either our old or new systems, so why pay for it?Encryption may come some
time soon, but not now so therefore the features haven't been paid for.
