[TrunkCom] PA Statewide System.

Well, PA will be hard to cover regardless of vendor. I have bad feelings
about this system and Oakland countie's system. Originally Oakland County
was going to expand the current Motorola type II TRS to a smart zone one
to cover the southern end of the county better, that that was supposed to
have been digital. The current TRS is used mainly in the northern part of
Oakland County. This is a large county with lots of action happening all
the time with the local departments and county departments on the current
TRS, and it would have made more sense for them to go with Motorola to
expand the current system.
Do you know if Motorola did any work on PA's system originally,
because that was who was originally going to construct the system for
them, and this was back in 1998, and then articles started to come up and
threads started to go around the net about Ma/Comm. I don't know but I
have some bad feelings about Open Sky, because it won't work with either
Motorola or EDACS, which Ma/Comm also owns now, and with large EDACS
systems like in Dade County, florida there have been lots of problems s from
what I have read. on the net here. Last week I talked to one of the security
officers at the Oakland County court house, and they are currently using
Motorola MTS-2000 portables for the trunked system, and he didn't seem to
know anything about the new Open Sky system that is coming. In fact,
Oakland County already has XTS-3000 portables that they are just using in
analogue mode now, but were supposed to have been moved to digital
APCO-25.
