And then figure that Uniden needs to recoup engineering
costs.

I don't think plugin is going to be sold in the same
numbers as the radio(s).  So no chance for economy
of scale.

If you don't like the price, then buy elsewhere... ;)

Note that the 'early adopters' for trunking radios also
paid a premium.  The BC235 was more expensive and did
less than the BC245 that replaced it.

You can always wait until the prices come down...
