[TrunkCom] Admin: Editing of Reply Posts

OK, folks.....

The List Admin staff has posted a couple of warnings recently about
individuals who post messages without bothering to edit the posts they
are quoting. Especially obnoxious is failure to edit signature files and
other material not germane to the discussion at hand. A somewhat heinous
(edited) example is shown below.

Furthermore, it has been asked before that signature files be of a
reasonable length, no more than 3-4 lines. This has now been added to
the rules of the list. If you cannot say what you wish to say in 3-4
lines maximum, don't say it on this list.

This is getting out of hand, and as such it is time for us to put a stop
to it. Please try to remember that some people pay for 'Net access on a
per-byte basis, and most of us have mailbox size limits, some more so
than others. It's also incredibly annoying to have to wade through line
after line of garbage before getting to the useful information.

Folks, proper editing of your reply posts (and unobtrusive sig files) is
simple good manners, expected of all denizens of the 'Net. If you can't
follow a few simple rules and proper practices you need to go somewhere
else.

With that, here is the warning: the next person who fails to properly
edit their reply posts, or posts a message with an obnoxiously long
signature file, will be removed from this list. If you wish to rejoin
the List at some point in the future, this will be based on the
determination of the Admin staff that you appear to be willing to abide
by the rules of the List.

No further discussion of this issue will be entertained.
