Well, if say all the lower 48 states which are right next to each other
got trunking systems be tt APCO-25 or other system types, then they should
be all linked up, but it soundw like these people are forgetting all about
APCO-25 and whait is intended for. Now, as I said earlier just the lower
48, but we would have to some how link Hawaii and Alaska on the same kind
of ssstem, and then provide some kind of a link to the main systems, but
my guess is that this will take years to put together.

Would you have a different channel for each state or tie all the links into one nationwide channel that all agencies have to monitor or scan in case of emergency?

But even that could get irritating; say a pursuit runs from Oklahoma into Texas and the officer calls for help on the mutual aid channel. Not only do the involved agencies hear it but so does anyone listening to the link channels nationwide. It won't take much for people to start ignoring or turning off radios.

That may sound strange coming from a ham, but I feel everything has a place in today's emergency planning: trunked radio, cell phones, and conventional radio.
