>All of us are correct with certain scenarios. If a two-way unit is mounted
in a vehicle, the dispatcher needs only to put in the name of the user (assuming
they do any programming as suggested by another thread). Portable units, however,
are just that. I frequently hear the PSP give the dispatcher the number of
the portable unit they took out of the charger while leaving their headquarters.
As an aside, the use of the I-Call function on a 780xlt can play out in different
scenarios as well. In a large police/fire/ EMS department, not all users may
use the function. In some instances the I-Call (Uniden) user may be out of
your scanner's range. You can get a unit I.D., yes. The trick, then, is to
determine what radio is actally associated with the I.D. you have.
