[TheForge] A different needle question

Actually, that's exactly what I ended up doing. I have not stress-tested
the resulting needles, but I've had no more breakage while handling (which
claimed the first 5 -- fortunately cheap -- needles).

I may have said this already but my procedure was to heat the eye-end of
the needle to cherry red (over my gas stove burner) and quench it in
vegetable oil. Then I hold the oily needle over the flame till the oil
flashed, and quench the flame in the vegetable oil. Repeat the latter once
or twice.
