Did you discuss commission or is this your idea?

The answer probably revolves around what you can afford to give up and 
what you feel is fair.  I would not recommend you go too generous 
because it sets expectations - just a thought.  I would also consider 
that below a certain sum a commission may not even be a good idea. 
Consider the psychology - tossing someone $10 might not be so pleasing 
to the recipient - not saying this would be so or if it were that it 
would be reasonable.  The mind can be an odd creature.

But if they buy $2500 worth of iron from you, tossing the landscaper 
$75-$100 would seem plenty to me.
