[TheForge] sales question

Many years ago I went to work for a company that gave out Christmas
bonuses by a set formula. It was a fairly generous formula, but
heavily weighted to years of service.
The net result was that my first bonus was $15 (worth maybe $50 in
today's dollars). This is as compared to hundreds of dollars received
by my cohorts. I looked at the piddling bonus and realized I actually
resented it, and would have preferred they had given me a turkey --
which would actually have cost them less, but would have been more
than numbers on a check.
I think any business arrangement you enter into would be fin -- a
5%-10%-15% commission or finder's fee if you choose. Consider the
cost of advertising. How much money would you have to spend to get
X-amount of sales?
But Dave Mudge's idea is excellent. Make the referrer something nice
which he can also use as an example of your work. Present it as that.
If he wants or expects a commission he'll probably tell you so.
