I'm with Dave on this.

Don't sign any exclusivity contract unless they're willing to gaurantee a 
minimum level of work, say $50,000/year. AND this only applies to the stated 
items, no others.

If an architect wants ME on staff it's going to cost a LOT, as in 
comfortable living plus toys as a start.
