[TheForge] Fix'n stuff, was tailstock

I never took shop either. I went to a small school that didn't offer shop.
The closest thing was FFA, but I was on the college prep track and had no
interest in farming. My dad was a machienest/model maker and could fix
anything. So I did grow up around problem solving and can usually fix
anything I have a need to.

I've been having some back problems and had decided to build an inversion
table. After looking at plans and comercial tables on line, I went to a
garage sale and found a strider that has a frame that is just about perfect.
When I got it home I thought that I would play with it a bit as a strider
before taking it apart. That was when I discovered that it was almost
impossible to use. After closer examination I figured out that they had it
put together wrong. That is probably why they were selling a $100 machine
for $5. I've been thinking about it for 4 days now and I think I can reuse
the moving parts to make the table, so I only need to come up with material
for the foot clamp. I have a big order due this Friday so by the time I
have time I should have the whole thing figured out.

Me too Pete but I don't have the excuse of no schooling. I grew up in a
spinning/machine shop, took shop classes starting as soon as they were
offered, up to and including trade schools and I still screw things up
trying to fix them. I'm now turning into the old geezer who really
screws things up thinking I can fix them. right now the snow plow on the
old pickup is just sitting there dead. I don't know why it stopped
working last winter but I sure know why it ain't a gonna work now. I
tried fixing it. <sigh> Just because the guy who mounted it in the first
place was an idiot doesn't mean I couldn't have figured out how to get
the power cable off it without breaking it in several ways. Grrrrr.
