Comforting to know mine aren't the only peas needing coursework in
remedial trellis-climbing. I ran into a lady last month who said "The
Secret Life of Plants" was a revelation to her: Now she "knows plants
feel and think and that they love her" -- all without a nervous
system, much less a brain. Seems to me if plants had such
capabilities, we could at least expect them to climb a trellis!
I used a few lengths of jute twine last year and they held up, except
for some decomposition where they met the ground. My garden is
moderately protected and may not feel such winds. If jute fails, I
could try something stronger. Monofiliment might be a bit difficult
to tie by hand into a net, though. I doubt I'd find a local source of
gillnet.
