Good evening,

Can anyone recommend a good insurance company for home/shop/barn insurance
for a part time/hobby blacksmith? I recently had a problem with American
family trying to cancel my home owners policy because:
A. My corrugated steel pole barn had a solid fuel heating device that is
not UL listed and was not installed by a licensed contractor. (Anyone
know a licensed forge installer? :)
B. My barn is used for a business.
C. My firewood was too close to my shed (it leans up against the shed)
D. I had "metal debris" lying round the outside of my barn. I had to
explain that the "metal debris" was actually failed oxygen tanks that I
make into bells.

They eventually said okay, but the agent explained that if I am robbed or
if the barn does burn down, the company can refuse to pay since I was
running a business in my barn. I need home owners insurance, but if I am
paying for it, I want it be real. I want them to pay for a new barn if
mine burns down. Any one have a recommendation?
