I believe the more credible avenue of response is to address the 
argument and not the source.

There is a HUGE body of scholarly and historical work that solidly 
establishes the purposes of the 2A.  Refer to Federalist papers as well 
as the writings of many of the Founders including Madison, Jefferson, 
Mason, and so on down the list.  This history of intent is clear and 
unequivocal.  SCOTUS agrees.
