I would feel more comfortable about this if you turned a main switch
to off,  not just a breaker.  You may be right about safety, but I
suspect what you're doing may be illegal anyway.  It would be just my
luck to have some fancy, or defective, main breaker that somehow
clicked back on while my generator was running, killing some innocent
lineman, thus setting myself up for a long retirement in the clink!

Some electrical systems have a main knife switch to remove all
connection between the power grid and your circuit box.

Myself, I just strung an extension cord well off the floor to power
sump pumps and shop vac w/o any connection to the house wiring.
