What Bruce said. Same here, but just for the fridge and freezers. We
cook with wood or gas, heat with wood, hand pump for water, the cellar
drains itself, land-line phone, don't have a TV.
I guess if power was out for more than a couple of days, I'd have to
run the end of the 100' extension cord into the computer room for an
hour or two, keep my bit jones under control y'know.
Oh, and I've a separate small, portable generator for the shop that
will run a couple of lights and, say, the drill press or one power
tool at a time. The forge has an easily swapped-in hand-crank blower
for backup.
