hello;

if they are doing a finger stick they are using one of the self-testing
meter for pt/inr that are on the market.

google "inr self-testing" or "warfarin self-testing"

the worst case is the rouche coagcheck meter:

$2,499.00 USD for the meter
$120.00 USD for a box of 6 test strips.

$20.00 USD per test just for the test strip.

the rouche meter is the meter that edwards hines jr va hospital
anticoagulation clinic has been using with anticoagulation patients who
have some form of insurance to offset the cost. if you happen to not
have insurance you either pay it your self out of pocket or you drive to
the local va medical clinic and get veinous blood drawn for every test.

pt/inr self-testing is only for those who can afford it.

if the reason you are taking anticoagulatant medication is the result of
an accident which was caused by a 3rd party; insurance will not cover
neither the warfarin nor the blood test nor self-test of pt/inr.

you basically are hung out to dry by the medical profession, insurance
industry, the legal system, etc, etc, etc.

the moral of the story is do not survive an accident caused by a 3rd
party, because if you do you will pay for it the rest of your life.
is your life worth $500,000.00 usd? is anyone's life worth $500,000.00
USD? probably not.

we need to rein in the medical profession and make a decision that not
everyone is worth saving or should be saved and let people die without
forcing them into bankruptcy.

bottomline:

NO ONE GETS OUT OF THIS LIFE ALIVE!
Everyone is dying and going to die.
