Yeah.  That's what my mama always said about Van Nuys.

She started saying it around 1940 or '42, though.  Just wasn't the
same as when she moved there around 1918.

For my part, I only lived there the year I turned 6, used to play on
lovely rolling, watered lawns that are now (according to the net)
leveled and converted to a parking lot for a giant mall.
