[TheForge] need help on a project. ( Knife steel)

I knew a couple of old smiths (RIP) who strongly favored Stude springs and early 50 Chrysler auto springs.
However, i had a 55 stude truck ( amongst others) where  i had to replace broken leafs on 3 out of 4 springs.
1085 is a good all around choice.
St Francis W said to find a good, available tool steel, learn it real well and stick with it for most uses.
