[TheForge] Frosty bones and drybrushing

Good for you Frost Man! I think you're on the road to an almost recovery.
You'll never be like you were before, but the fact that some parts of you
are healing, and becoming pain free is the best you could hope for. Over
the last 4 years my bone density and decreased way into the negative range.
I don't remember the numbers, but something like -1.9 rings a bell. All the
figures were in the negative range, which means all the little old lady
medicine I've been taking for years just isn't getting the job done. This
includes Actonel, Fortical and another I don't remember. I keep losing
height, and that bothers me a lot. I'm now 3" shorter than I was in 03. I
guess I've lifted one to many mesquite logs on the sawmill :o)
I've never gotten used to the pain, but I know people that have. In this
day and age with all our modern marvels, I don't see why anyone should have
to suffer. Some doctors don't see it that way, but luckily my team has
really taken care of me, including a medicine pump implanted in my abdomen,
that works 24 hrs. per day. It supplies medication to my spinal canal via a
tiny catheter. What's next? At least 2 more surgeries, if, and that's a
big if, if my fragile bones will start healing themselves and building up
calcium again, but so far it's a no go. I just turned 59, and I guess I'm
just going to finally have to accept the fact that my remaining years (or at
least I hope that "years" will be plural!) must be lived out being really
careful. In two years I've broken my ribs in 11 places, without even
knowing when or how I broke the darn things. Sorry about the semi-rant, I
get made at myself for being in this shape, even though they tell me it's
surely hereditary in nature. I guess I'd be better off is I would be mad at
my forefathers :o), but naw, I love those guys, even though I never met
them.
Dang I hate to babble like that, go get well Frosty!!!!
Robert
